Candle Lighting Blessings for Chanukah
The Details
The shammash is used to light the other candles, and is typically found in the center or on the left of the chanukkiah, at a different height than the other candles. The other candles should occupy the rightmost positions of the chanukkiah, and are lit from left to right. On Friday night, the chanukkiah is lit before the Shabbat candles; on Saturday night, after havdalah. After the candles are lit, it is traditional to recite Hanerot Halallu and Maoz Tsur.
